ADD SOME INCHES

One evening, as I bounced out of the classroom, rushing down towards the toilet to ease myself. Just then, I ran into the hands of a young lady, when I sighted her, my heart missed several beats, all though, she was fair in complexion and tall, this was not what necessarily drew my attention to her, but one thing. Her naked laps. I thought she must have forgotten to pull on her skirts, after using the toilet, this is because she was coming towards the direction of the toilet. I simply thought she had just used the public convenience and out of impetuosity, forgot to put on her skirts where she left it, I felt she must not appear to the public the way she is. Sincerely, I couldn’t help to hold the thought to myself, that when I got to her, I had to stop her and courteously call her attention to my discovery by asking her to go and pick her skirts where she left it.

But, to my awkward surprise, she stared at me embarrassingly, hissed and walked away from me, that was when I discovered, that what she was putting on was all she had wore from home. It was a gown that was barely an inch lower than her hips.

The scene was tongue-tied, how could a lady, in her right senses choose to open the private axis of her body to the public? What a show of shame? What a display of error? The evening scenario did not go well with me, it was recurring in my mind, I was really disturbed, that was why I had to pen down this message.

One of the beliefs of the society about woman is that a woman is a seductive tool, no wonder women are used to gain, hold and sustain attention, women are portrayed as devilish in some societal worldview. However, even if the world or society says you are seductive, or take you to be a seductive tool, Are you really?

Dear Young Woman! The problem of the world today is an error of identity, do you really know who you are? What do you know about yourself? Do you really know who you are? I want to tell you that you are not a sexual tool as the society sees you, you are not a sex object as most people wants to use you to achieve. You are an image of God, a tool to make an incomplete man complete, to perfect an imperfect man, to be a mother to generations, a role model for young innocent generation of girls.

Therefore, for you to make right the wrong notion of the society about you, you need to add some inches to your skirt, add some inches to your gown, go extra mile to get yourself a new identity, different from what the society believes you are, do not live to satisfy the society which you belong to, do not live to satisfy the creations, but live to satisfy the creator, but, live to satisfy your God, your maker, who owns you.

Dear young lady, please, add some inches to your outfit.           

ANOTHER NICODEMUS

There is a man, a follower of Jesus Christ, he is a Christian, and can we call him a devoted one? Whichever, this is because this Man will never miss any of the many church services, talk of the Tuesday service, he is always there, he is never found wanting on Thursdays, the same thing applicable with the Friday evening Jesus hour, where the members of their notable church usually turnout massively, do you know the special thing about this service, this is the high turnout of peoples, the people of the church do not always attend the bible expository class that usually takes  place in the church every Tuesday, like the Friday Jesus hour, the members cherish the prayer meeting very well because they usually wage holy war against their enemies.

          Though, this Man is not a pastor in the church, but  he happen to be one of the deacon in the church, an agile minister, despite how busy he is as a senior lecturer in one of the higher institutions in the city,  this man will always meet up with every appointment  in the church of God. Apart from been a deacon in the church, he is also the coordinator of some other fellowships in the church, like the Men fellowship, Welfare Department, etc, not only this, He is also a Man give out to support the church projects in cash and kind. But this Man has some things he is not very good at doing, can we say it’s due to some characters? This man is a complete gentle man, whom you will hardly see talk to people, whenever he is  at  home, he will never move out of his house unless he was going to the church, whenever he is in the office, been  one of the chief lecturers in the department he belongs to, he will never be seen discussing any issue with his colleagues in the school, he always claim he had no time for all those things, he never preach to students, he sees it as  downgrading, a senior lecturer to students, preaching to his colleagues was also not a part of himself, he sees them as sinners of the highest order, they are not so good in their behaviour, this is because this men practice all sorts of immorality, in their offices, another thing he hates doing, is that, he never honour any Christian activities going on within the campus, he claim that the students are not all holy, all their so called activities are unacceptable sacrifices before God, this man strongly believe in living a private life that is mainly between himself and his God alone.

          Indeed, this man reminds me of the story of Nicodemus, the Pharisee, who was also highly placed among the people, (a ruler of the Jews) who came to the Jesus at night, what a religious Nicodemus, yet he could not risk his high esteemed statue among the society, therefore, He came to visit Jesus at night, this means, he did not want people to recognize him with Jesus. Today, we have a lot of Nicodemus in the church of God, who despite how influential they are in the society, will never show their true colours as a true believer, they have forgotten that since Jesus died for them in the public, they must serve him in the private, he was stricken and beaten in the public, serving him in the closet is highly prohibited, Nicodemus believed in Jesus, he love Jesus, but can he be compared with Zacheus?, while Zacheus was thirsting to see Jesus, though in the public, he never mind, he climbed up to the sycamore tree, just to see Jesus, but Nicodemus, a man who though wanted to relate with Jesus, he paid a night visit to him, what a behind the scene disciple? Yet we were made to understand that if we suffer with him, we shall reign with him, if we deny him, he also will deny us, 2^nd Timothy 2:12, Are you not ANOTHER NICODEMUS?
